SSCC # 33 - John 3:16 & an Easter Poem

Good Morning!  Happy Easter to you all:)  Today is another weekly challenge inspired by scripture over at Stampin Sisters In Christ.  I have the honor of hosting this week.

The verse I have chosen is one that most of us will recognize, in fact it was the first verse I memorized.  It is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."  What an awsome verse for Easter.  Knowing that God loves us so much he gave his life for us.  How he died up there on the cross for us so we can have life.

My challenge for you this week is to make a card/project using the word LOVE or something that symbolizes love to you.

Our sponsor this week is Inktegrity - digital stamps by Joni.  There are some really cute images there.  In fact I've used one of them on my first card.  It's called 'out on a limb'.

Out on a Limb

This card is made with the digi image from Inktegrity.  I love this little cutey.  I used some daisy dp I had and some ribbon to add some color.  I added the sentiment around the circle, it says "Love is in the Air".
.............................................................................................................................

And this is my second card for today.  It's a bit more for Easter.
He Is Risen!!

For this card, I used the Easter Cross from McMahon Five Designs .  There are some really cute Easter and Spring digis over at the store.  So stop on by and show some love. Sue would appreciate it.   If you're not into the cutesy then there are a lot of pretty and elegant flowers for you.  There's something for everyone.  I know you'll find something:)

Lastly, I would like to share a poem I found.  It tells the story of the Ressurection of Jesus Christ and how Mary felt watching her son die on the Cross.  (Just a warning....it's a tear jerker)

The Pain That Mary Felt

Can you imagine the pain

That Mary must have felt,

As her child hung on the cross that day;

The agony that filled her soul,

The tears that flowed,

Their decision she could not sway?

A Mother's love for her child

Is such a strong part of her life,

Like an extension of herself.

Every breath the child breathes,

Every tender hug and kiss,

Not one memory every leaves.

So, for Mary to witness

Such a scene

Was probably more than she could bear.

She must have cried out,

Don't you know that's 'my child'

Hanging there?

God knew the agony

That Mary would feel,

On that fateful day,

For He himself felt

That same agony

As His Child hung that way!

"Crucify Him" they chanted,

Not knowing what lay ahead.

They didn't realize that

He was their Saviour,

Until He, too, was dead.

But, one bright and glorious morning,

They checked the grave where Jesus lay.

The tomb was empty,

The rock had been rolled away.

Jesus had RISEN that day!

Mary had lost a Son,

But the World gained a Saviour

On Resurrection Day.

Happy Easter Kathy! Both your cards are just wonderful. The lady bug is so cute. But the cross is so precious and the center of all we believe and KNOW... it is our release from the bonds of sin and it is our hope for the future! The poem is beautiful! I've often thought of Mary and how she must have felt during those days! Beautiful work Kathy! Every detail is lovely! Thanks for a great verse and challenge and for the warm welcome!

Oh you made a circle card, what fun! And I am long delayed in leaving my comments too, shame, shame! I like the second card too, so pretty. Thanks for sharing that poem as well, I know when I watch the Passion that I tear up every time watching Mary mop up the blood in the courtyard . . . thinking, what if that were my child?
