SSCC # 43 and a Father's Day card!!

Good Morning!!  It's a great day here in Washington, it's going to be a nice, sunny day.  Today is the start of another challenge at Stampin Sisters in Christ.  I do hope you can come over and join in the fun.  Our hostess for this week is the super talented Lisa Hjulberg.  Here is the verse she chose...

2 Timothy 1-6 "You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs--he wants to please his commanding officer. Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops."

The challenge is to make a Father's Day card/project... or just a masculine card

Great challenge with Father's Day being just one week away.  So get out those "GUY" stamps or masculine ones and get busy.  I've already got my FIL's card made, now I just need one for my Dad and my DH.

Our sponsor this week is none other than Simon Says Stamp.  They have been sponsoring us monthly and we so appreciate it.  Thank you!!  If you haven't been to the store, you must go and take a look around.  They have over 100,000 items in stock to meet your needs.

For my card, I used an image from Karen's Doodles.  She has several 'guy'  images available and this is just one of them.  It's called "It's your day".  I used my nesties to offset the image.  I used my copics to color it and then added some buttons and ribbon to seperate the 2 different dp's.  This card is for my FIL, and I know he'll enjoy it.   Now go take a look at what the other DT have created over at SSCC.   Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great week ahead=)

SSCC #42 - Genesis 1:26

Happy Sunday stampers!!  Today's a great day, it's the start of another challenge week over at Stampin Sisters In Christ Challenge blog.  The hostess for this week is ME!  Yes, I'm hosting this weeks challenge.   Here is the verse I chose this week...

Genesis 1:26, And God said,"Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

My challenge for you is to make a card/project that has some kind of animal on it. It could be a fish, bird, or land mammal, or a creeping bug.:)

Just a few days ago, my family was talking about how massive the universe is.  It's mind boggling just how huge it really is.  And to think that it was all created in just 6 days.  Now that is really something to think about.  How did God do it?  There's so much we don't know about our world, and I look forward to having all my questions answered when I get to Heaven!!

We watched the Planet Earth series when it was on T.V.  and let me tell you, that is a wonderful series.  I recommend it to everyone.   It's very educational and answers some of the questions that I had about our planet.  Thousands and thousands of different kinds of animals and plant life.  It's definately must see TV.

Our sponsor this week is the Wild Flower Kids Stamps and they are donating 5 digis of choice to one lucky winner, which will be picked next Tuesday, June 8.  So be sure to enter your cards soon.  I can't wait to see them.

For my card, I used a freebie digi from Tidly Inks.  The sketch I used is from last weeks the sweet shop sketch.   The dp is from My Minds Eye.  I got it at Craft Warehouse as a single sheet.  I think it's the Pure Joy collection.    Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I look forward to seeing what you create.  Be sure to stop on by the SSCC blog to see what the other DT sisters have made.  Definately some awsome cards and projects there.

SSCC #40 Isaiah 64:6

Happy Sunday!  What a great day to be here:)  Today starts another weekly challenge over at Stampin Sisters In Christ.  Our hostess for this week is the wonderfully talented Peggysue.  Here is the verse that Peggysue chose for this challenge...

Isaiah 64:6 KJV "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

The challenge for us is to use distressing or sponge the edges of your project, any chosen technique to give it a vintage or distressed look.

Our sponsor this week is Unity Stamp Co.  Here's the stamp set they will be donating..

Isn't this a gorgeous set?   I love it!  One of you can win this set by entering in our challenge.  You have until next Saturday night, May 29.  Wow!  It's almost the end of May already!  This year is flying by.

For my card, I used the Princess La La, from La La land,  and made up my own sketch.  The dp I used is from my stash and so is the lace.  I added some stickles to her crown and belt and added a diamond as her necklace.  It's hard to see, but the edges of the dp are distressed.  I've always wondered what tools are being used to accomplish this look.  My tool of choice is the seam ripper.  What's your's?  I'd love to know:)  I have entered this card in the La La Land challenge for this week and that is to make a Birthday Card

Don't forget to stop by the SSCC blog to see what the other DT Sisters have made.  You'll be inspired for sure.  Thanks for stopping by, have a great week:)

SSCC # 33 - John 3:16 & an Easter Poem

Good Morning!  Happy Easter to you all:)  Today is another weekly challenge inspired by scripture over at Stampin Sisters In Christ.  I have the honor of hosting this week.

The verse I have chosen is one that most of us will recognize, in fact it was the first verse I memorized.  It is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."  What an awsome verse for Easter.  Knowing that God loves us so much he gave his life for us.  How he died up there on the cross for us so we can have life.

My challenge for you this week is to make a card/project using the word LOVE or something that symbolizes love to you.

Our sponsor this week is Inktegrity - digital stamps by Joni.  There are some really cute images there.  In fact I've used one of them on my first card.  It's called 'out on a limb'.

Out on a Limb

This card is made with the digi image from Inktegrity.  I love this little cutey.  I used some daisy dp I had and some ribbon to add some color.  I added the sentiment around the circle, it says "Love is in the Air".
.............................................................................................................................

And this is my second card for today.  It's a bit more for Easter.
He Is Risen!!

For this card, I used the Easter Cross from McMahon Five Designs .  There are some really cute Easter and Spring digis over at the store.  So stop on by and show some love. Sue would appreciate it.   If you're not into the cutesy then there are a lot of pretty and elegant flowers for you.  There's something for everyone.  I know you'll find something:)

Lastly, I would like to share a poem I found.  It tells the story of the Ressurection of Jesus Christ and how Mary felt watching her son die on the Cross.  (Just a warning....it's a tear jerker)

The Pain That Mary Felt

Can you imagine the pain

That Mary must have felt,

As her child hung on the cross that day;

The agony that filled her soul,

The tears that flowed,

Their decision she could not sway?

A Mother's love for her child

Is such a strong part of her life,

Like an extension of herself.

Every breath the child breathes,

Every tender hug and kiss,

Not one memory every leaves.

So, for Mary to witness

Such a scene

Was probably more than she could bear.

She must have cried out,

Don't you know that's 'my child'

Hanging there?

God knew the agony

That Mary would feel,

On that fateful day,

For He himself felt

That same agony

As His Child hung that way!

"Crucify Him" they chanted,

Not knowing what lay ahead.

They didn't realize that

He was their Saviour,

Until He, too, was dead.

But, one bright and glorious morning,

They checked the grave where Jesus lay.

The tomb was empty,

The rock had been rolled away.

Jesus had RISEN that day!

Mary had lost a Son,

But the World gained a Saviour

On Resurrection Day.

This poem was written by Barbara Sanders

Thank you so much for stopping by today!!  Have a wonderful Easter:)

SSCC #28

Good Morning!  It's time for another scripture based challenge over at Stampin Sisters In Christ Challenge blog.  This weeks hostess is the wonderful Pamela who chose this verse to share.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Here is what Pamela has to say about the challenge this week.
"You have free reign of what you want to do this week. But here's the deal: I want you to actively do this as an act of worship to our God. Before starting, pray. Thank God for your gift. While working, feel free to pray more, or perhaps sing out to Him. Put your focus on Him and remember that it is He who gave you your gift (however good or bad you think you are at this) and remember that it makes Him happy to see you at work. Do this challenge, as if you were doing it for Christ himself!"

Our challenge this week is sponsored by Christian Paper Crafts, who is offering a wonderful stamp set.  Make sure to check out the SSCC blog to see the beautiful set.

SSCC # 24 - Giddy-Up

Good Morning!!  Happy Sunday to you all:)  We have another great challenge for you over at SSCC.  Before I get to the challenge let me first say our sponsor this week is Mo's Digital Pencil.  If you haven't been over there, you must go see what she has in her store.  Lot's of wonderful digis.  Also, images that would be perfect for this challenge.  So let's get to it....
